Tumaini Festival 2018

The fifth edition of the Tumaini Festival was held over the weekend at Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Dowa, central Malawi. Dzaleka is home to thousands of refugees from Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Burundi and Somalia.

The festival was conceptualised by Menes La Plume (pictured above in blue t-shirt) five years ago as a one-day cultural festival. The event has since grown over the years into a two-day event attracting over 30,000 people, local and foreigners alike. The festival features music, dance, drama and poetry.
